Minication

Ah... what a relaxing weekend! Hubs and I took a short minication to Eureka Springs this weekend and it was exactly what we needed. We didn't go with a long list of sights to see or an agenda. Our goal was to relax. The Grand Treehouses were absolutely perfect for accomplishing just that.

Besides the fact that they were cozy, cute and comfy- they had a relaxing fireplace and jacuzzi to boot!

We weren't hermits the entire time. We did enjoy the delish food at a few local places. "Local Flavor" was my favorite though... also during our stay we saw the "Big Jesus" as Chase called it, or "Christ of the Ozarks." It was my second time seeing it (first time was when I was 13ish) and it seemed just as humongo to me as it did the first time! Favorite quote from Hubs was when we were walking up to the statue and he said "Freeze!..... We're standing in the shadow of Jesus..." and in fact, we were.

Mini-vacation? I think yes...

After this busy season, we are definitely going to need some down time.

Christmas is always busy, but it seems as though this year it is especially so. I wish we could just sit back and really enjoy the real reason for the season and spend less time doing "stuff."

Giving up so much home time doesn't quite seem to be worth it as much as it used to. Isn't it funny how things work like that? We spend our entire lives going to school to get an education so we can have a nice job and nice things, then you have a child and you would give anything (especially all of those nice things) to just spend all of your time with them.

Hubs just finished grilling a delicious dinner (in 20 degree weather... he's awesome) and he's also cleaning the kitchen while I blog (and Baby C sleeps..). I feel so blessed with them.

Anyhoodles, we have booked two fabulous nights at a treehouse in Eureka Springs for New Years Eve!
We'll be staying in the Royal Oak Treehouse! I'll definitely take pictures and share with you next month!!

We have yet to spend a night away from our amazing little man, so this will be quite an experience! Even though we have to leave our main scoop, we are looking forward to some relaxation time and alone time and Grandma is looking forward to grandson time!

I think that's what we call a win/win!

Little man is 5+ months old now and is such a blessing to us.

At five months he:
- is rolling over tummy to back
- laughing/giggling and loves to play in his jumper
- has two teeth about to push through on his bottom gums
- loves sweet potatoes, butternut squash, green beans, apples and momma just made some peas tonight!
- has begun grabbing at glasses, lips, cheeks, hair.. just about anything and everything! (beware!)
- turns his head at the sound of his name
- he currently has his first runny/icky nose.. I'm sure it's the first of many!!

Um busy much? Spring break = crazy busy.

First dad and I went to Branson, MO and hung out there for a few days. It was super relaxing and nice to spend some time with him!

Then Chase and I spent a few days in Little Rock. It was a rad time. 

I learned that I love golf! My father-in-law had an extra set of clubs that he is letting me use while I learn. We had so much fun playing and enjoying the sun with good company Matt. 

We also saw the best movie ever while in LR. The Blind Side was incredible!

It's been kinda nuts around here since we got back. I started my second internship at Helen Tyson Middle School here in Sprindale on Monday. It's cool. So so very different than elementary, but I am working with a stellar cool person, so it's neat.

Today was so gorgeous, so I came home, started dinner and then mowed the lawn. I wish I could have kept going in the yard, (weed the front, trim the trees, etc) butI started losing daylight. Tomorrow it's suppose to rain, so I'm super stoked that I was able to get the lawn mowed before the rainy weekend. Chase has been playing South Pacific this week and will be playing throughout the weekend... which means I get to miss him a whole-heck-of-a-lot this week.

I'm okay with that though.. because he's fun to miss.  He leaves really sweet notes for me to find in the morning (because I go to sleep before he makes it home after the show) and he comes home to eat dinner with me inbetween work and the musical and then helps me clean up after dinner. I love him lots.  He's the greatest.

On Saturday (after the Easter rehearsal at church) I get to hang with the awesome Jayme Spicer (recently engaged to rad Rob Kain). She is going dress shopping- and I am so excited to go with her! They're such a cool couple and I'm kinda stoked for them!

Fun weekend ahead and hopefully some pictures!

Dinner was delish tonight- Southwestern Quiche! I'll post a picture in the recipe post that is to follow.

Anyhoodle. I hope you all enjoyed the fab weather the last two days! Hopefully the rain will be peaceful, and then the sun will be back on Saturday to make everything green!

Fa la la la la...

I have been pretty icky feeling since yesterday and am home today from school (which makes me pretty miserable), but it has been nice to stay cuddled up on my sofa!

Looking on the bright side, I got to catch up on laundry and start reading another book. I borrowed this book a few years ago, and still haven't read it, so it's time! The book is "One Hundred Years of Solitude"  by Gabriel García Márquez. I have started it many times, but never have had the gusto to finish... but I'm actually very invested in it this time around. I'll give you my full reaction when I finish on my Reading List!

I never did post about my amazing weekend vising my beautiful friend Audra, but what a nice time we had! I didn't make it down until Saturday afternoon, but we packed a ton of fun into less than 24 hours. She recently got a job teaching ESL in South Korea and leaves in about a month.

Congrats to you, darlin! You're amazing.

Her hometown in Hot Springs, so we walked around downtown Hot Springs, saw the bath houses, ate *delicious* sugar-free chocolate from a 'mom & pop' fudge shop and had tons of laughs in the process trying on funky hats. We even bought some spectacular music at 'Romancing the Stone.' Later that evening we had some ahhmazing pizza, played with her a-dorable nephew and sister-in-law and then Wii-ed it up. I'm not gonna lie- I'm pretty terrible at Wii, but it was a blast!
